November 10, 2026: UB members participate in Research Data Day

A well-planned trip doesn’t begin at the destination, but rather during the planning stage: What’s the best route? What should you pack? What support is available along the way?

A well-planned approach to research data — taking into account the principles of research data management — also helps prevent chaos and problems. That’s why this year’s Research Data Day in North Rhine-Westphalia, under the motto »Embark on a Journey: Staying on Track with Your Data« features a program open to all researchers in North Rhine-Westphalia designed to help them prepare their research data for their journey.

Our colleagues from the University Library’s Research Data Services team will take participants on a short journey during the event. Along the way, they’ll provide insights into various aspects of research data management and introduce the appropriate RUB tools and infrastructure to support these efforts. The two-hour online presentation begins at 2 pm. You can register here.

Before that, there will be an opportunity to hear firsthand accounts from various researchers. The State Initiative for Research Data Management (fdm.nrw) is hosting a discussion with three researchers who will share insights into their »roadmaps«. In his keynote address, a professor from RUB — an experienced scholar — will demonstrate how research data management can be implemented in practice within the humanities. This online event begins at 10 a.m. More information, as well as details on registration, are available here.
