Since 1995, “Library Day” has been celebrated throughout Germany on October 24; it was established by former Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker. Every year, “Library Day” draws attention to the more than 9,000 libraries in Germany, sparks interest, and showcases a wide range of offerings. Since its inception, many libraries have organized a variety of events to highlight the diverse services they provide as indispensable cultural and educational institutions.
