Library of the Faculty of East Asian Studies

Note on the current corona situation

(Last update: 07/07/2022)
As of 07/15/22, the OAW Library is once again open to patrons Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The lending conditions as specified in the library regulations apply. The reading room zone remains restricted, individual workstations are available. The restricted workstations are marked. Group work is not allowed and a distance of 1.5 m must be maintained. Compliance with the rules will be monitored. Wearing FFP2 masks is still strongly recommended.
For now, the OAW Library will continue offering the scanning service.

General Information

The UB's coat lockers are still not available for use. Bringing jackets and bags to the UB is therefore possible, but food & drink is not (exception: water). Please deposit any water bottles you bring with you in the entrance area of the EAS library.

Die Research PCs next to the supervisor's office can be used. After use, please disinfect the keyboard and mouse (disinfectant and wipes are provided).

By keeping the windows open (tilt position), the best possible ventilation should be ensured.

The supervisory staff will carry out inspection rounds at regular intervals to ensure compliance with the rules and to keep the windows open. Please follow the instructions of the staff.

We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your cooperation.

Additional Notes

Moodle course

Starting November 2020 we offer a Moodle course for students and staff of the Faculty of East Asian Studies - there you will find tutorials and have the opportunity to ask questions in the forum.

Researching literature from home

When searching for literature, please also take note of the collecting offers of various publishers collected by the UB, the databases compiled under the Subject-specific information as well as our own overview of online resources, which now also includes some Japanese journals that can be accessed online.
General information on how to use the RUB libraries from home can be found here. The UB has also started a channel with information videos on YouTube.

Note on CrossAsia:

Currently, simplified rules for registration and renewal apply.
For registration or extension please send us the completed and signed form by mail or e-mail. We will then stamp it and forward it to the Staatsbibliothek.
