Exhibition “What We Brought with Us” until July 17, 2026
Until 17 July 2026, Bochum University Library presents the poster exhibition „What We Brought with Us“
The exhibition tells the stories of scholars who were forced to leave their home countries due to war, persecution, or political repression. At its centre are personal objects that accompanied them on their journeys. Through photographs and short texts, the exhibition offers insights into individual experiences of loss, memory, identity, and new beginnings.
The exhibition was created as part of Academy in Exile, a programme that supports at-risk scholars and advocates for the protection of academic freedom.
“What We Brought with Us” is presented in connection with the Academic Freedom Forum „Truth Matters: Universities, Academic Freedom, and Democracy in a Fragmented World“, which will take place at Ruhr University Bochum from 9 to 11 June 2026. A digital version of the exhibition is also available.
The exhibition can be visited during the University Library’s opening hours. Admission is free.
