On this page we have listed the services offered by the departmental libraries of the RUB during operations under Covid-19 conditions. The libraries can only be used in compliance with the valid hygiene regulations, wearing a face mask is still strongly recommended during your stay on the premises.  Archeology

  • The library is open to the public at the moment and has returned to the regular opening and issuing times:
    During term:
    Monday to Wednesday: 9 am to 7 pm, Thursday: 9 am to 6 pm, Friday: 9 am to 7 pm
    Weekend loan: borrow from 3 pm to 6:45 pm on Friday, return from 10 am to noon on Monday
    Lecture-free time:
    Monday to Friday: 10 am to 6 pm
    Weekend loan: borrow from 3 pm to 5:45 pm on Friday, return from 10 am to noon on Monday
  • Please adhere to the hygiene regulation of Northrhine-Westfalia. 3G proof is required. A medical face mask has to be worn at all times within the library. Users who do not comply with these rules will have to leave the premises.
    These rules and regulations are subject to change depending on the Covid situation.

 East Asian Studies

  • Opening times during semester break:
    Moday to Friday: 10 am to 4 pm
  • Borrowing items: The lending conditions as specified in the library regulations apply. More information .. [German]
  • Work spaces: The reading room zone remains restricted, individual workstations are available. The restricted workstations are marked. Group work is not allowed. A distance of 1.5 m must be maintained. Wearing FFP 2 masks is still strongly recommended.

 Economics, GD-Library

  • From April 4th, 2022, the Economics Faculty Library will be open again from
    Monday to Friday, daily from 8 am to 10 pm.
  • The valid hygiene rules have to be observed, a medical face mask must be worn at all times. You also have to maintain a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from other people in the library.
  • Work spaces: Students of the Faculty of Economics who are currently writing their bachelor's or master's thesis can work at an individually assigned work space in the library. Please reserve a space via email to wiwi-bibl@rub.de or at the information desk.
    100 work spaces are available in the GD library. Spaces that are not reserved can be used without prior booking.
    Group study rooms can be booked again at the information desk.
  • Lending: You can order books by sending an email to wiwi-bibl.@rub.de stating the required literature - including shelfmark - and your name and library number. The ordered books can be collected at the information deskon the following operning day. Borrowing books is also possible on site.
  • Scan service: Students and staff of the Faculty of Economics can request up to three scans per week. Please fill out this form [German] for each request and send it to wiwi-bibl@rub.de

  • The library is open to individual users: Monday to Thursday from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm, Friday from 8.30 am to 12 pm. Please arrange an appointment via email, stating the preferred day and time, and, if possible, the required literature.

    Opening times:
    Monday to Friday: 9 am to 7 pm during term
    Monday to Friday: 9 am to 5 pm between terms

    Up to 90 people are allowed to be in the library at any given time. A medical face mask must be worn at all times.
    You can borrow and return books as well as copy and scan from the library's holdings on site again. Designated study places are also available, no booking required.
    As a RUB student you can book one of four places intended for actively taking part in an online event. In our booking system you can choose one of these time slots for an online meeting:
    Monday to Friday: 10 am to 12 pm | 12 pm to 2 pm | 2 pm to 4 pm

  • Basic operations under Covid-19 conditions [German]
  • Opening times:
    Monday to Friday 8 am to 10 pm
    Saturday: 8 am to 5 pm
  • The valid hygiene and distance rules have to be observed, a medical face mask must be worn at all times.
  • Scan service: All members of the law faculty can order articles or excerpts of the ZRS holdings provided there is no access to the electronic versions of these sources. You can order complete journal articles as well as up to 10% from a book (according to copyright law: UrhG, § 60e, Abs. 5). Repeated orders from the same book adding up to more than 10% are a breach of copyright and therefore inadmissible. Please send your scan request to zrs-info@rub.de stating your name and student ID card number or the faculty chair. Please make sure you provide detailed bibliographic data such as author, title, pages as well as the ZRS library shelf mark. Click here for further information on the scan service [German].
  • All e-media resources of the Law (ZRS) Library
  • Access to the beck-eLibrary
    Because of the Corona situation the ZRS has expanded its ebook resources, including a license for the database beck-eLibrary. It contains works of the publishers C.H. BECK LSW, C.H. Beck RSW, Haufe, MWV, Schäffer-Poeschel, UVK, Vahlen and Versus. The eLibrary that you have access to via the RUB's VPN tunnel particularly also includes legal textbooks.
  • Access to Juris via VPN
    As of now RUB students can access the Juris database (Juris Spectrum, Juris Staudinger and the Hochschulmodul) via the VPN tunnel. The tunnel also provides access to other databases such as Wolters Kluwer).

  • Opening times during term:
    - Mo to Fr: 8 am to 8.30 pm
    - Sa: 10 am to 3.30 pm
  • Work spaces: A total of 35 work spaces are available - only to students of the Faculty of Medicine - which can be used during opening hours.

  • Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm (during term)
    The valid hygiene and distance rules have to be observed, a medical face mask must be worn at all times.
  • Lending: Overnight loan: from 5.30 pm to 9.30 am on the following day (during term). Weekend loan: from Friday 12 pm to Monday 12 pm
  • Zoom conferences: If you need to take part in an online event, you can reserve one of 12 dedicated work spaces (equipped with LAN sockets) on floor 3 by reporting to the staffed desk on floor 4 or by calling 0234 / 32 22756 in advance. Each person can book up to 3 time slots per week. Available slots are:
    Monday to Friday 10 am to 12 pm ; 12 pm to 2 pm ; 2 pm to 4 pm ; 4 pm to 6 pm

  • Return to the reference library:
    Overnight loan possible from Monday to Thursday from 5 pm, return on the following day by 10 am. Weekend loan from Friday 10 am until the following Monday 10 am (up to 5 books) These will be put back on the shelves by the library staff.
  • Work rooms as well as individual work spaces can be used without booking.
  • Open work spaces are set at a distance. Make sure the windows are opened at regular intervals.
  • The scan service has been cancelled, the copier is accessible.

 Theology

  • Opening times: Monday to Wednesday: 9 am to 6 pm
    Thursday and Friday: 9 am to 4 pm
  • Access conditions: A limited number of students is allowed to enter the library without prior booking.
    A medical face mask must be worn at all times. Please take a basket when entering the library to enable the counting of the users present.
    Keys for the lockers can be borrowed at the information for a deposit.
    Two book scanners (for storing PDFs on USB sticks) and three photocopiers (service card required) are available in the library.
  • Work spaces: Sufficient work spaces are available, no booking required. To ensure a distance of 1.50 m, only one person should work at each table
  • Lending:
    The library operates as a reference library again.
    Loans for students:
    - Overnight loan from 12 pm to 12 pm on the follwing day
    - Weekend loan from Friday 12 pm until the following Monday 12 pm
    Loans for faculty staff:
    Lecturers and academic staff of the Faculty can borrow books for 4 weeks if a permit from the faculty chair is presented.

  • General opening and service times: Monday to Friday from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Wearing a medical face mask is required. The mask can be removed at the workplace. Learning and work places can be used without prior booking, working together as a group is not allowed.
